Presence of feel

I roll and find you gone from where I imagine

My arms reach around a body not there

Grasping the bed for your last impression

I awaken to the silence of empty sheets

Your pillow holds me as a final salve

I pull it close, your smell lingering on the case

I close my eyes wishing for a faster week

When the vacuum held by your essence

Filled by your presence soothes my sleep with your body’s heat

Your skin warm, in my arms and never again away from me
